File Transfer
Best Practices for File Transfers
Please ZIP your files before sending and name the ZIP archive using the convention: ClientName_ProjectName_TodaysDate.zip
The date should be in the international YYYY-MM-DD format.
If you are sending a Pro Tools session, please do the following:
- Make sure all edits are in place & all tracks are complete.
- Commit all tracks (choosing ‘Make Inactive’ option for original tracks). This ensures I can hear your plugin chains.
- Do a ‘Save As…’ making sure to include all media.
If You Are Sending Stems:
- ONLY SEND STEMS IF WE HAVE ALREADY TALKED – 99% OF THE TIME INDIVIDUAL TRACKS ARE WHAT I NEED
- Bounce/Render all stems as stereo tracks.
- Make sure all Stems start at 00:00.
- It is a good idea to leave a couple of seconds of silence before any sounds start.
- Please name your Stems descriptively (e.g. Acoustic Guitars.wav, Vocals.wav, Drums.wav, etc.)
- Broadcast waves are best, but regular wave files are acceptable.
If you are Sending Individual Tracks:
- Bounce/Render/Export all tracks in their original stereo/mono format. Most should be mono.
- Make sure all tracks start at 00:00.
- It is a good idea to leave a couple of seconds of silence before any sounds start.
- Please name your Tracks descriptively (e.g. acoustic_guitar-1.wav, vocal-1.wav, kick.wav, etc.)
- Broadcast waves are best, but regular wave files are acceptable.
